Jean Jacques Rousseau
1) Where is your interviewee from?
My interview is from Geneva.
2) What is his occupation?
He is a modern political writer
3) What does he believe are the basic principles of a good government?
He believes unity, common ego, life and will are important in a government.
4) What does he base those beliefs on?
He bases the belief that everyone is born free, but that a government controls us and doesn’t let us get lost, and keeps us at a balance and common rule.
5) Do you agree with his ideas on government?
I think he is right. Nothing in this world is fair, and we have to sometimes give us things to come to an agreement. While we givep some rights, we do come up with new agreed laws that help us leave in a common way with each other.
JEAN JACQUES ROUSSEAU
1) Geneva, Switzerland
2) Political writer
3) Rousseau believed that in order to attain the principles of a good government people must give up their individual power and rights. By doing so, it would create unity and a common ego.
4) Rousseau bases his beliefs on the fact that people are born free and not the enemy to those of their own kind, but without proper guidance and boundaries people forget about "unity and the common ego" and become more interested in self-preservation. Government in his view is a mere way of keeping people equal and in check but at the same time free.
5) I agree with Rousseau's ideas on government because today we live in a similar form of society where everyone has to give up personal rights in order to attain equality, unity and a common ego. At the same time we are still free to do as we want based on the boundaries of the “social contract...”
NICCOLO MACHIAVELLI

3. He believes that people should be suppressed by a single ruler because they are natural inclined to be "evil" and self-interested.
4. He bases those beliefs on a monarchy, because a strong SINGLE ruler would think of the country's best interests.
5. I don't agree with Niccolo, because I don't believe that a single ruler would always look out for the country's interests. If he says that all people are inclined to be evil, then why would that ruler be an exception? Also, I think a nation works better when the people have a voice in the decisions made.
